Week 54: Zone Conference

This was a good week! We had zone conference this week. It was good to see everyone again. It's weird because it's summer time and all the new missionaries are coming in and all the ones older than me are going home. It's weird. Makes me feel old even though I'm not. There was a lot of good trainings at the zone conference and it should help the mission out.

A few days ago I met a member in the ward here who is moving into the hickory flat ward soon! They are really cool and should be a good addition to the ward. The world sure is small, that's for sure. We also had a few really good lessons this week which was fun. One day while we were out tracting my companion all of the sudden had a lot of pain in his foot and found a wasp in his shoe. He got stung 4 times in his ankle so we had to hop to the nearest member house and get it figured out. It was crazy. Luckily it didn't take long to heal and we were back out in no time.

Week 53: Heavy Machinery

Yet another good week! A few days ago we went on exchanges with the district leader and his companion. That was fun. I stayed in my area and elder Monsen went to Tumwater. The elder that came here had never been on bike before, so it was fun helping him figure it out a little bit. While we were out tracting we came across a family with a bunch of wood in the front yard and we offered to help them with it. They said they were okay but told us to stick around because it was about to get exciting. They were buying a swing set from a family and had to disassemble it themselves They did a little bit of it but decided the rest would be too much work. The people that bought it work on wells for a living and had their dad drive off and get their crane truck, which was then used to lift the remainder of the playset up and over their house so they didn't have to take it further apart. It was awesome. And we got to help a little bit loading things into the truck and stuff.

Week 52: The Haunted and the Homeless

This week was exciting. Olympia is a crazy place. There is a crazy amount of homeless people here. On my first night here we were trying to visit someone in an apartment complex, so we buzzed the door and while we were waiting a guy came next to us on the sidewalk and started setting up his tent! It was crazy. The downtown area is especially bad. Luckily there isn't really any doors to knock there so we don't go very often. Our apartment here is crazy too. Everyone says it is haunted haha. It was built a gazillion years ago and everything creaks. It looks like a place that would be haunted. We also have birds living in our chimney, which is fun. It's a lot easier of a place to bike around than Soundview was too, which is nice. Elder Monsen, my new companion, is good too. It is going to be a good transfer, I can feel it.

On Saturday I got to go back up to Port Angeles for Lonna's baptism. That was a long car ride, about 3 hours each way, but it was worth it. Almost every missionary that taught her was there. Elder Robb, who was in Port Angeles with me got off his mission about a week ago and was touring the mission with his family. He was driving up to Port Angeles and called the missionaries to see what they were doing. They told him they were filling up the font so he went to the church with his family and ended up getting in the water with her. It was awesome. Quite the way to end the mission.

Week 51: 4th of July

This week was fun! It was the 4th of July this week which was a blast. There is a member here who has a basketball court and every year he hosts a basketball tournament for the community. We got to go and participate. It was a lot of fun. After that we went out and tracted and did missionary work until 7. Then we got together as a zone and placed sports at the stake center. It was a good day. On Saturday we all got our transfer calls, and I am getting transferred! I am going to Olympia with Elder Monsen who I was companions with back in Yelm. It's going to be a lot of fun. I was only in Soundview (where I am now) for 6 weeks, which feels really short, but the new place should be good too.

Week 50: Mission Stuff

This week was a good one! On Tuesday there was a guy that we talked to on the road a few days ago before who texted us and asked us if we could help him move some boxes. We said yes and found out they were all full of shoes that he was shipping to Mexico for orphanages. It was cool! There were thousands of shoes there. He even gave me and my companion a few pairs!

Then, late in the week while we were tracting we came across a few yard sales. Those are always fun. one had thousands of old baseball cards and action figures and movies and CDs. It was awesome, a lot better than the other one that was just women's clothes. I got a super cool lighter for 50 cents!

After that me and my companion were able to go back to Gig Harbor for a baptism! The Hoffmans were a family i had been teaching while I was there, and they were baptized this weekend. It was really cool to get to go see them again as well as driving through my old area and seeing old ward members.
